More opportunities to win in 2023
In addition to the RentSkills Supreme Award (formerly Landlord of the Year) and the RentSkills Highly Recommened Award both (formerly runner up) sponsored by Resene, this year four RentSkills Merit Awards, provided by MBIE, will be given to candidates for excellence in maintaining positive tenancy relationships.
All Awards will be selected by the judges using the agreed list of criteria and adding up the percentages shown in the right hand column of the application form allocated to each applicant. In addition for the recipients of Merit Awards, MBIE has asked that the judges focus on ongoing commitment to enhance the effectiveness and efficiencies in their management of positive tenancy relationships. What are the rewards?
The prize for the RentSkills Supreme winner is the trophy, a framed certificate, $2,000 in cash and a prize of $500 for the winner's Association. The prize for the winner of the RentSkills Highly Recommended Award is $1,000 in cash and a framed certificate. The four RentSkills Merit Award winners will receive a framed certificate and $750 each. MBIE has specified that recipients of these Merit Awards must only use the payments to broaden their existing avenues for learning or supporting their management of their tenancy relationships and not for complying with their legal obligations as landlords.
Apply before September 11.
These Awards seek to identify and honour excellent examples of landlords amongst the members of Property Investors' Associations affiliated to the NZ Property Investors' Federation. Watch the video to hear of the benefits of entering from three of the previous winners.
What are the criteria?
As the Awards aim to highlight professionalism and good practice, the selection is based on the following criteria,
Evidence of positive ongoing relationships with tenants and of commitment to continuous improvement and innovations in their management of tenancy relationships
The way the applicant conducts his or her business as a landlord.
Who may enter?
Members of affiliated PIAs, who manage all or some of their own properties, whether full time or part time, and regardless of the number of properties managed, are encouraged to enter. Applications close on August 6.
